Vivo launches pre-to-postpaid number portability

Brazil's largest mobile carrier Vivo is allowing prepaid customers that switch to a postpaid contract to retain their prepaid phone number at no extra cost, Vivo said in a statement. The offer is available only for Sao Paulo state subscribers. Vivo is a joint venture between Spain's Telefonica Moviles (NYSE: TEM) and Portugal Telecom (NYSE: PT), and manages 18 million customers.
