Water company to issue Georgetown bidding rules Dec.31

Guyana Water Incorporated plans to publish bidding documents December 31 for the first phase of its Georgetown water supply and sewerage program II, a company official told BNamericas. Proposals are due February 18, the official said, adding there will be a public opening ceremony that same day. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is extending US$27mn for the project, and Guyana's government is making up the US$3mn balance, the official said. The project is designed to rehabilitate water infrastructure in three zones of the country's capital, which entails providing labor, equipment and expertise. In the three zones, service connections will be replaced and the winning contractor will install consumer meters. The contractor will also need to install equipment to isolate the zones and meter flow in and out of these areas.
