The structures of the wind turbines that will be installed in the Warnes II Wind Farm in the department of Santa Cruz arrived in Bolivia from China. This project is being carried out by ENDE Corporación and will contribute to the change in the energy matrix promoted by the Government to strengthen the generation of renewable energy in the country.

Wind turbines are devices that convert the kinetic energy of the wind (a natural and renewable source) into electricity. These large structures arrived at the Jennefer Port in the department of Santa Cruz over the weekend and represent an important milestone in the progress of the project, which will strengthen the generation of clean energy.

The batch received includes key components of the Windey WD156-4500 wind turbines, each with a power of 4.5 megawatts (MW). Once assembled and operational, they will allow an additional production of 45 MW of power in total to contribute to the National Interconnected System (SIN).

Each wind turbine (once its installation is complete) is 120 metres high and weighs approximately 200 tonnes. Following the arrival of these turbines, a specialised logistics operation will be used to transport the equipment from Puerto Jennefer to the municipality of Warnes, where the wind farm is located, in the following days.

For the transport process, heavy-duty modular vehicles and extended-bed trucks will be used, suitable for moving large components. The state-owned electricity company has a logistics plan to guarantee safe and efficient transport to the municipality of Warnes.

Warnes II will not only increase the supply of electricity, but will also contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, in line with the national energy transition strategy.

With this project, Bolivia reinforces its commitment to sustainable development, following the path of countries that are increasingly increasing their capacity to generate clean and renewable energy.
