YPFB adapts aviation fuel plant and improves air operations in El Alto
This MHE, YPFB release was published using machine translation.
UCOM-MHE/YPFB-15-07-2023.- "Our priority is to guarantee logistics for the operation of air operations for the benefit of travelers, for this reason today we delivered a YPFB work, which adapts the aviation fuel plant and improves air operations at the El Alto airport,” said the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energies, Franklin Molina Ortiz, this Saturday.
With an investment of Bs 2.3 million (MM), Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos, through its subsidiary YPFB Aviación, delivered civil and electrical works at the El Alto Airport aviation fuel supply plant to guarantee the operation and safety of air operations.
“It is important to mention that all the projects that are being carried out have their precedent in the nationalization of hydrocarbons. This work by YPFB is part of the Government's commitment to increase the storage capacity of aviation gasoline and improve the logistical conditions of the services provided by the company at this international airport," said Molina.
For his part, Julio Cesar Gandarillas, General Manager of YPFB Aviation, indicated that "this project will reduce the maintenance cost for our equipment and thus avoid the risk of dust in the quality of aviation fuel because it seeks to adapt and update equipment, systems and constructions in compliance with Supreme Decree 2170”.
The tanks that transport fuel for aircraft or jet fuel have special conditioning as a plant with dispensers, hoses and pumps, among others. "These vehicles move on dirt roads and windy spaces, which generates wear on the machinery since connections, hoses, and nozzles must be cleaned, among others, and with this adjustment, corrective maintenance is reduced," the executive specified.
The work will benefit 15 airlines and 1.3 million people who use the El Alto International Airport annually. In addition, it contemplates improvements in terms of infrastructure, security, readjustment of spaces, electrical installations and updating of equipment and systems in compliance with Supreme Decree No. 2170 and Technical Regulation for the Design, Construction, Operation and Maintenance of Aviation Fuel Supply Plants in airports.
THE TALL
Currently, the El Alto International Airport is the second most important in the country with flights and operations during 24 hours and with an annual consumption of aircraft that amounts to 40 million liters of fuel.
The state oil company, through its subsidiary YPFB Aviación, is in charge of the supply and distribution of aviation fuels (Jet Fuel and Av-Gas) in 13 airports throughout the national territory. It maintains operations in the cities of La Paz, Cochabamba, Sucre, Oruro, Tarija, Yacuiba, Santa Cruz (Trompillo and Viru Viru), Puerto Suarez, Trinidad, Riberalta, Guayaramerín and Cobija. In addition, the plants in Uyuni and Chimoré are under construction.
