YPFB advances in Peru gas call
Bolivia's state hydrocarbons company YPFB is among the three groups that have qualified in Peru's bidding process to distribute natural gas to the central and southern regions of Apurímac, Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Junín, Cusco, Puno and Ucayali.
The other potential bidders are Consorcio Wapsi Perú (LNG Holding-China Gezhouba Group) and Gas Natural de Lima y Callao, according to investment promotion agency ProInversión, which resumed the call in July.
Offers for the 32-year contract will be due 30 calendar days from the day the final contract version is released, a date for which has yet to be set.
Estimated investment is US$400mn and the investor may supply gas via CNG, LNG and/or directly through pipes.
Peru is part of YPFB's internationalization strategy, and the Bolivian company recently announced plans to invest over US$400mn in the neighboring country, and to open a business unit there.
