Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) and the operating companies have planned a budget of USD 703.7 million for the hydrocarbon sector this year. These economic resources will prioritize exploration and exploitation activities (upstream), with the aim of increasing and replenishing hydrocarbon reserves.

“Approximately 72% of the total amount planned to be invested in the hydrocarbon sector in 2025 will be allocated to exploration and exploitation activities,” said Armin Dorgathen Tapia, president of YPFB.

The remaining 28% of investments planned for 2025 were allocated to activities in the hydrocarbon sector's production chain, such as gas networks, transportation, industrialization and plants, refining, storage, marketing and other investments.

In the investment program of the current administration, YPFB Casa Matriz has a stake of 45.35% (USD 319.14 million), the subsidiaries and affiliated companies of YPFB Corporación participate with 43.25% (USD 304.32 million) and the operating companies YPF E&P Bolivia SA, Petrobras Bolivia SA, Repsol E&P Bolivia SA, Matpetrol SA, Vintage Petroleum Boliviana LTD., Total Energies EP Bolivie and Canadian Energy Enterprises SRL Bolivia, register a stake of 11.40% (USD 80.24 million).

The sectoral investment planned for this year is the highest in the last five years. Among the projects that will be prioritized are the exploratory drilling of the Bermejo-X46D, Yapucaiti-X1, Iñau-X3D, Vitiacua-X1, Remanso-X2, Mayaya Centro-X2, Mayaya Centro-X3 wells and the stratigraphic investigation of the Tomachi-X1 IE and Tomachi-X2 IE wells. In addition, seismic work will be carried out in Tatarenda and the exploitation of the Mamoré I and Surubí areas.

The plan is also to deliver the Biodiesel Plant II “Héroes de Senkata”, implement the national distribution of natural gas through networks, and build home gas networks, among other important projects.
