The following is a machine translation of a YPFB release
Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos has obtained the Environmental License for the drilling of the Mayaya Centro - X2 (MYC-X2), Mayaya Centro (MYC-X3) and Suapi - X1 IE (SAP-X1 IE) wells.
“The Environmental License for these three wells was obtained on September 26, which demonstrates compliance with current environmental regulations by the state oil company and, therefore, authorizes the implementation of these exploratory projects,” said Felipe Callisaya, Safety, Health, Environment, Social and Management Manager at YPFB.
The state-owned oil company requested the corresponding Environmental License from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy and the Ministry of Environment and Water.
The competent environmental authority issued the Environmental Impact Declaration, a document that jointly constitutes the approved Environmental Impact Assessment Study, as a reference for carrying out the inspection, surveillance and control procedures established in the Environmental Prevention and Control Regulations for this project.
The new wells are part of the Upstream Reactivation Plan (PRU) that the government is undertaking with the aim of investing in oil and gas exploration and exploitation, in order to replenish hydrocarbon reserves, boost the oil sector, create jobs and improve the quality of life of the Bolivian people.
The exploration prospects are located within the Lliquimuni Area in the municipality of Alto Beni, belonging to the Caranavi province of the department of La Paz. The projects do not overlap any protected area.
The Environmental License is the administrative legal document approved by the Ministry of Environment and Water, an institution that guarantees compliance with all the requirements set forth in Environmental Law 1333 and the corresponding Regulations regarding environmental prevention and control procedures.
