Santa Cruz, Aug 31, 2023 (AN-YPFB).- Between August and September of this year, Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos committed to the delivery of 2,500 metric tons of granulated urea that will be used as raw material in the Production Plant of Granulated Fertilizers Cochabamba.
"We have a period of 60 calendar days to deliver this amount of urea to the fertilizer complex of the Bolivian Hydrocarbons Industrialization Company (EBIH)," said the president of YPFB, Armin Dorghaten Tapia.
According to the urea purchase and sale contract signed in July between the representatives of YPFB and the EBIH, the volume committed in a first delivery is 2,500 tons of urea in 1-ton Big Bag presentation.
Technical personnel will verify the quality of the granulated urea produced at the “Marcelo Quiroga Santa Cruz” Ammonia and Urea Plant. The state oil company has experience in the commercialization of urea in the internal and external markets, as well as in the handling, transport and storage of this product, advice and will share its experiences with EBIH technicians.
The Cochabamba Granular Fertilizer Production Plant is implemented by the EBIH. It will produce compound fertilizers based on urea produced by YPFB, which will be one of the raw materials to be processed with a high nitrogen content that is essential in plant metabolism.
The main macronutrients of these compound fertilizers are called NPK, which owes its name to the abbreviations of the three main macronutrients, which are nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.
Physical mixes allow the application of multiple nutrients in a single operation, saving time and resources. In addition, they avoid the need to apply different fertilizers separately. Physical mixes allow farmers to plan ahead and have more precise control over the nutrients to be applied in the field, leading to better results.
The growing demand for food and the changing world scenario put the country's food sovereignty at risk. Therefore, the National Government considers the supply of compound fertilizers necessary to strengthen the agricultural sector.
The plant is located in the Santiváñez Industrial Park, in the municipality that bears the same name, belonging to the department of Cochabamba. The contribution of the new complex will increase the productive frontier, obtain higher income for agricultural producers and will contribute to the economic reactivation of the country.
