La Paz, April 1, 2024 (AN-YPFB). - With the objective of reducing logistics costs for importing fuel into the country, YPFB, through its subsidiary YPFB Transporte SA, enabled the pipeline system from Oruro to Santa Cruz, which will generate annual savings of USD 5.2 MM depending on to the volumes that will be transported by it to meet the demand of consumption centers.
“The Transportation of Liquid Hydrocarbons project imported by the West (Oruro - Santa Cruz) concluded in June 2023, it will allow significant annual savings for YPFB, since liquid hydrocarbons will arrive in a safer and more economical way to the centers. of refining and consumption in the country,” said Armin Dorgathen, president of the state oil company.
The activation of the pipeline transportation system has the capacity to transport up to 9,000 barrels per day (Bpd) from Oruro to Cochabamba and 8,000 Bpd from Cochabamba to Santa Cruz. The investment executed until 2023 is USD 4.3 MM, which can be recovered in the first year of project operation.
"Currently, a large part of the liquid hydrocarbons imported from Arica, Chile, enter through tankers to Oruro, from where they are pumped through a system of pipelines to follow the route to their final destination," the authority said.
This project required a high technical commitment to enable a system of pipelines (OSSA-2, OCC, ONSZ-2 and OCSC) that link the cities of Oruro, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz, allowing the transportation of liquid fuels from the west to orient in a safer, more economical and efficient way.
“At the end of 2023, the project was physically completed, thus marking an important milestone in the history of YPFB since it is the first phase of reversal of the OSSA-2 pipeline, which once completed in all its stages will significantly change the way of supply. from Bolivia,” said Dorgathen.
