Dragados-Hochteif consortium wins Salto-Kennedy concession

Chile's public works ministry has awarded consortium San Cristóbal Express, made up of Dragados and Hochteif, the El Salto-Kennedy urban expressway concession, the ministry announced. The US$70mn, 4km project entails building an urban expressway serving capital Santiago's northern and northeastern suburbs. The concession will run for 32 years. San Cristóbal Express submitted the lowest non-peak toll charge - 125 pesos (around US$0.20) - versus the 140 peso-toll offered by the Autopista San Cristóbal consortium made up of OHL and Infraestructura 2000. The expressway will connect the Américo Vespucio beltway in the sector of El Salto in the north of the capital with the municipalities of Providencia and Las Condes at El Cerro and Kennedy avenues, respectively. Works will include cutting traffic tunnels through San Cristóbal hill.
