The project consists of three sections: Section 1: Medellín - La Virginia Section 2: La Virginia - Alférez Section 3: Alférez - San Marcos Its elements include: New Alférez 500kV substation Expansion and adaptation of substations: Medellin - 500kV The Virginia - 500kV Alférez - 230kV San Marcos - 500kV This project aims to meet the growing energy demand resulting from new industrial, commercial, agricultural, and residential developments. The current infrastructure is reaching its maximum capacity to transport energy, creating a potential risk of blackouts in the region if not improved.
