It is a large-scale iron ore project that includes railway, port and associated beneficiation facilities. The mine, which began operating in December 2007, ceased operations after the port facility suffered a geotechnical failure that limited the export of iron ore. The restructuring strategy includes a plan to resume operations after revitalization of the plant and modifications aimed at improving product quality and increasing recovery, along with the reactivation of the port, railway and support areas. The railway line connects Serra do Navio with the port terminal located in Santana.
