It involves construction of a water treatment plant for the district, which is seeing rapid population as it becomes a bedroom community for Panama City. The Caimito water treatment plant will receive water from the La Chorrera drainage and parts of Arraiján that are not covered by the Arraiján Este treatment plant. It will serve the neighborhoods of Barrio Colón, Barrio Balboa, Puerto Caimito, Guadalupe, El Coco, Vista Alegre, Juan Demóstenes Arosemena and part of Arraiján Cabecera. The treated water will be deposited into the Caimito river.
