The system will capture, store and distribute electrical energy efficiently using 310 40-foot containers, with units of up to 2,700 kWh each. In total, the system will occupy an area of 3.2 hectares and will be directly connected to the La Pólvora substation, located near the site. The purpose of the project is to connect the BESS batteries to the substation to store the surplus energy produced during periods of low demand and then inject this energy into the National Electric System (SEN) during peak demand. The aim is to improve energy efficiency and support the strategy to abandon fossil fuels by tripling the use of renewable energy and increasing energy efficiency. The construction phase is estimated to last 18 months.
