The highway connects the productive regions of Belo Horizonte and also serves as an entry point to the Triângulo Mineiro, a region known to be one of the richest in Brazil thanks to its economy focused on distribution and influence in the agribusiness sector and cutting-edge technology. The highway is one of the main accesses to the central-western region of the country, as it connects the states of Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul. This is not the first time that the concession of the highway has been sought, however, it is the first time that it has been carried out in a segmented manner, dividing it into several sections in order to make the tender more attractive. The concession will generate more than 57,000 jobs throughout the 30-year contract. It is expected to require investments of around 4.39bn reais and an operating expense of 3.17bn reais.
