The structure will supply the region with water for human and animal consumption, in addition to industrial activities and feed the agricultural and mining production chains. The works will channel the waters of the São Francisco River and supply the hydrographic basins of the Itapecuru, Jacuípe, Tatuí, Tourão/Poção and Vaza-Barris rivers. The works are expected to generate 45,000 direct jobs.
