Centinela Second Concentrator (Former Centinela Mining Development)

Description: The project aims to expand Minera Centinela's operations, both its processing capacity and useful life, incorporating new deposits and taking advantage of existing capacities, complemented by new facilities, thus consolidating the company's operations in the Antofagasta Region. The project includes the construction of a second copper concentrator plant at Minera Centinela and the expansion of its plant to produce molybdenum. It also includes the exploitation of the Esperanza Sur and Encuentro pits. The project will be implemented in two stages: Stage 1: Exploitation of the Esperanza Sur pit, feeding the new concentrator plant, while collecting and leaching oxidized mineral, whose effluent solution is sent to the SX-EW plant of the oxide line. Initially, extraction from the Esperanza Sur deposit will be processed in the current Centinela Sulfuros plant (formerly Esperanza) while the new concentrator is being built. Stage 2: Joint exploitation of the Esperanza Sur and Encuentro pits, feeding the Centinela concentration plant, while at the same time processing oxidized ore, whose effluent solution is sent to the SX-EW Plant of the oxide line. This stage will also be marked by operational continuity of the exploitation of oxidized ore from the Encuentro pit, extending the useful life of the Encuentro Oxides project facilities by approximately nine years. The project will require an average of 9,000 workers during the construction phase and 2,890 during its operation phase. The project is located in Sierra Gorda and Mejillones in the province of Antofagasta, and in the city of María Elena in the province of Tocopilla, in the Antofagasta region.
