Description: The “Chaitén Volcano Energy Storage System” (hereinafter “the Project”), entered into the Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA) through this EIA, corresponds to an Energy Storage System project, and consists in the acquisition, construction, installation, assembly and operation of an electrical energy storage system using batteries of the BESS type with assembled BS, in accordance with the technical standard "RGR Technical Instruction N°06/2020". Its material is lithium-ferrophosphate. The Project will withdraw energy from the Lautaro Electrical Substation, it should be noted that this has RCA N°9/2010, and then inject it into the Energy Storage System, through an interconnection point. The Project will have a maximum storage capacity of approximately 40 MWh (for up to 5 hours), with a useful life of 30 years. The project covers an approximate area of 1.52 ha for the installation of the energy storage system through batteries and the necessary complementary infrastructure, which consists of a 23/66 kV booster substation, a single-circuit Transmission Line of 66kV (high voltage) of approximately 156.6 meters in length and an area of work facilities of approximately 1039.83 m2. The Project considers a total of 58 battery containers, 13 battery containers for compensation (maintenance of storage capacity during useful life), 6 power transformation centers (CT) plus PCS (bidirectional inverter), 1 Electrical Substation and a high voltage line, with an aerial and underground section. The objective of the Project is the construction and implementation of an energy storage system in order to increase the energy efficiency generated in the National Electric System (SEN) from the Lautaro Substation (RCA Nº9/2010) in the hours of lower demand. , injecting this energy when required.
