Thus, it is considered a chronic problem in the municipality of São João da Boa Vista, since it has been occurring for more than 4 decades. Reduction in the water levels of the São João stream and the Jaguari Mirim river, when heavy rains occur, providing favorable conditions for the interruption of flooding and waterlogging in urban areas, specifically in the central region of the municipality, where residences, commercial and public establishments are located, avoiding the displacement of people, material damage and, most importantly, the preservation of people's physical integrity.
