East Dock Project (Moegão, Cais Leste)

Description: The project involves the construction of a railway unloading terminal for grain and bran at the Porto de Paranaguá terminal complex, in the Eastern Export Corridor, in addition to a railway/road restructuring of the accesses to the Terminals of the Eastern Region of Porto de Paranaguá. The project will have the capacity to simultaneously unload up to 180 wagons, on three independent lines, totaling 3.8 km of conveyor belts. Each line will have the capacity to handle 2 thousand tons of cargo per hour. The works are intended to optimise the reception and loading capacity in railway (train) and road (truck) modes and, once completed, the daily wagon traffic will increase, since the station will have the capacity to receive 900 wagons per day, 60 wagons per batch and, additionally, the new infrastructure will allow the management of 80-ton wagons, instead of 65-ton wagons. Grains arriving at the port by rail and unloaded in Moegão will be sent by conveyor belt to the 11 interconnected terminals of the Eastern Export Corridor. The works will reduce CO2 emissions by 73%, the cost of operations will be 30% cheaper and, finally, there will be more organization in the traffic and flow of the terminal's modes. In addition, the system will reduce the number of crossings between railway lines and city streets from 16 to five, reducing traffic disruptions and the risk of accidents. The project aims to have the necessary infrastructure to integrate with other projects that are being developed in the state, such as Nova Ferroeste . The state company assures that with the new infrastructure, loading and unloading needs will be met for the next 20 or 30 years.
