The project consists of the expansion of the current pit, which will allow the processing of the sulfide reserves in the mine. For this, the construction of a Concentrating Plant is required, to process the copper sulphides from the existing deposit in operation, a hickened tailings deposit and infrastructure works necessary for the supply of process water, transmission of electrical energy, telecommunications and roads. The water required for mineral processing in the Concentrator Plant will be 100% desalinated seawater, which will be obtained through a desalination plant that will be located south of Tocopilla. The project is located northwest of the city of Calama, in the Antofagasta region, Chile.
