Description: The project consists of the construction of an energy recovery plant, which was specifically developed to respond to the characteristics and amount of garbage received by the Lara landfill, with the particularity of using the biogas generated in the landfill itself as one of the sources of fuel. In order to guarantee the efficiency of the burning process, it will be implemented in an area currently used to support the operations of the Lara landfill, including industrial activities and waste reception. The plant will have the capacity to thermally treat urban waste in the order of 3,000t/d, with continuous 24-hour operation (3 shifts of 8 hours), for approximately 340 days a year. The reduction in waste volume will be close to 80%, thus prolonging the useful life of the landfill. The unit, which will cover an area of 72,025m2, will be located in the municipality of Mauá, state of São Paulo, Brazil.
