It will be built in three sections. The first section, 18km, will run from the municipality of Silao to the Juventino Rosos highway, and will pass through Irapuato and Guanajuato. The second section, 30km, will extend from the La Soledad interchange to El Xoconoxtle, where it will connect with the Dolores Hidalgo highway. Finally, the third section will be 25km long and will go from El Xoconoxtle to the San Miguel de Allende highway. The new highway will leave between General Motors and Parque Bicentenario, at the entrance to the Los Rodríguez community. The Silao-San Miguel de Allende highway is a type A2 highway, with only one lane in each direction, but with shoulders, in its initial stage, although the possibility of it being divided into wider sections at some points is considered. The project aims to reduce travel time by 30 minutes, eliminating the sharp curves it currently has and building very smooth curves that allow more speed. The new highway is included as one of the emblematic projects in the 2018-2024 Government Program.
