Highway Provincial Route No. 11, section: Villa Gesell - Mar Chiquita

Description: The project consists of the construction of a second road on Provincial Route No. 11, between the accesses to the towns of Villa Gesell and Mar Chiquita, with the intention of linking the first with the urban center of Mar del Plata. The project is divided into 2 sections to be developed in a single stage: the first goes from the access roundabout to Villa Gesell to Canal 5, over a length of 39.4km; while the second goes from Canal 5 to Mar Chiquita, over a length of 33km. The works will have an estimated execution period of 24 months. The initiative has the particularity of skirting the important tourist attraction of the Mar Chiquita Albufera, declared a Biosphere Reserve and Wildlife Reservoir. This includes not only special management and monitoring measures incorporated into the Environmental and Social Management Plan for the pre-construction, construction and operation stages, but also actions to enhance the environment such as the construction of sewers, the passage of fauna, the development of recreational spaces with viewpoints with interpretive environmental signage and the implementation of landscape afforestation. The project will impact the districts of General Madariaga, Villa Gesell and Mar Chiquita; directly benefiting Mar de las Pampas and Mar Azul, and indirectly all the Buenos Aires resorts that are on the Atlantic Coast.
