Description: Implementation of an integrated water supply system in rural communities belonging to the municipality of Carinhanha, state of Bahia. The system aims to serve rural communities and benefit 5,886 people living in the localities of Vila São José (Cheira Cabelo), Barrinha, Feirinha de Santa Luzia, Settlement Santa Helena, Jatobá (Lagoa do Jatobá), Carneiros, Caraíbas, Baixa do Mocambo (Moca Olho), Settlement Gerais Pituba, Settlement Gerais Salinas, Settlement Brasilândia, Capinão and Creek do Capinão, belonging to the municipality of Carinhanha. Water supply services are precarious and/or non-existent in the rural area of the municipality of Carinhanha (HDI 0.576). The localities involved do not have a water supply compatible with the recommended technical solutions, falling back on the search for complementary technologies (water trucks, rainwater collection, cisterns, etc.) and whose conditions of the water offered for consumption do not meet the potability standards determined by the Ministry of Health. The aim is to achieve the following results: increase the supply and quality of water, increase the coverage rate of general supply, reduce the existing supply deficit and expand the distribution network in the localities. After the project, the aim is to increase the life expectancy and average productive life of the population, prevent diseases, reduce infant mortality and improve personal and environmental hygiene habits.
