The latter was originally built for rail traffic, but became part of Route E-35, being transformed for vehicular use and currently operates in a one-way manner, regulated by traffic lights placed at both access portals, which has proven to be insufficient for current and projected traffic flows. With the work, the old tunnel will be used exclusively by pedestrians and cyclists.
