Construction of the Atucha I Nuclear Power Plant began in June 1968 and became the first nuclear power plant in Latin America, when it was connected to the National Electric System in March 1974. The reconditioning stop will last thirty months. The objective of this project is to extend the term of the plant's operating license, which ends in 2024.
