LNG terminal in Puerto Brisa

Description: The project aims to build and operate a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) import and regasification terminal, located in Puerto Brisa, in the department of La Guajira, Colombia, which will become a key element for Colombia's energy security. The terminal will allow the import of LNG, which will be regasified and distributed through the National Gas Transportation System (SNT), ensuring a constant and reliable supply. The project design also has a focus on operational sustainability. Advanced technologies will be incorporated to minimize gas losses during the regasification and transportation process, thus minimizing the environmental impact. In addition, the project will include mechanisms for the reuse of waste heat generated during the regasification process, which will increase the terminal's overall energy efficiency. The project will be equipped with a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) in its initial phase, which will allow for a fast and flexible implementation of the infrastructure required for LNG import. In addition, the terminal will have an onshore storage and regasification system in its phase II, which will include storage tanks and an advanced compression system to ensure that natural gas is delivered at the pressure required by the NTS. The implementation of advanced control and monitoring technologies, including artificial intelligence tools and predictive algorithms, will allow the operation of the terminal to be optimized. These systems will facilitate the early identification of possible equipment failures and the scheduling of preventive maintenance, thus ensuring efficient and safe operation. In addition, technologies will be used to minimize the evaporation of LNG during storage, known as “boil-off gas”, reusing this gas for energy generation or reincorporating it into the regasification process.
