The water will be stored in a 1,000m3 tank and then pumped through a 61km, 24" diameter pipeline to the El Mauro industrial area. Once it reaches El Mauro, the water will be pumped through existing infrastructure to Minera Los Pelambres' processing facilities. The project also involves construction of a new SAG mill, which would join its three existing ones, a new steel ball mill, in addition to the six currently in operation, and six new rougher flotation cells, each with 250m3 capacity, which would add to the existing 49 cells. The project will be carried out in two phases. Works are planned for the municipalities of Salamanca and Los Vilos, Choapa province, in Chile's Coquimbo region.
