Description: Management of natural waters before mine dumps Mining development projects over 5,000 tons/month The Project "Management of Natural Waters before Mine Dumps" is intended to be developed in the Salamanca district, particularly in the sector called Las Hualtatas, which It is part of the Comprehensive Development Project (PID) that the Holder maintains in the Salamanca district. The objective of the Project is to implement a drainage system that allows minimizing the mineral enrichment of the waters coming upstream from the basin and the runoff waters that drain towards the Las Hualtatas dump, which then flow through the Los Pelambres dump. The foregoing, in order to guarantee compliance with the provisions of considering 11.11 of the Environmental Qualification Resolution (RCA) No. 38 of 2004, in relation to acid drainage in the tailings deposits and the pit, which consists of guarantee that “the quality of the surface waters of the Los Pelambres River will be better than or equal to the historical quality of the course of the river”. The ratification of the fulfillment of considering 11.11 must be carried out in node 9, as established by RCA Nº 38/2004. In this way, the Licensee proposes a complementary drainage system, which aims to reinforce the actions that the PID currently maintains regarding the quality of the waters in the Los Pelambres River, following the provisions of the operational measures to be implemented in the phase of operation of the project (considering 11.1 of RCA No. 38/2004). Accordingly, through this Project, the Holder intends to implement works and/or actions that allow guaranteeing what is promised in RCA No. 38/2004. For such purposes, this Project considers the following: · The construction of a drain, with a collection capacity of 200 L/s · The construction of a conduction line, which will allow the water collected by the Drain to be conveyed · The construction of a reception chamber and a discharge chamber, which will allow the entry of the captured water to the conduction line, and its subsequent discharge. · The construction of a collected water discharge, at a defined point belonging to the “Las Hualtatitas” stream, whose confluence with the Pelambres River is located downstream of the Los Pelambres wastewater deposit.
