Michilla Development Plan

Description: The project seeks to give continuity to the current operation of the Michilla site by reactivating the operation of previously exploited sectors and, in addition, integrating a complementary activity to the operation aimed at reprocessing material with mineral content from previously discarded material. The works contemplate the extension of the exploitation of the exploitation of the La Reina Sector, already operational, but modifying its current exploitation method for an underground exploitation method, the incorporation of new phases of exploitation in sectors where extractive operations have been developed previously (Clúster Lince and Polo), and the reactivation of old exploited sectors (Falla Condell and Viruca), without exceeding the mineral processing capacity already authorized under RCA No. 106/2018. Faena Michilla is located in the coastal mountain range of the Antofagasta Region, Mejillones commune, approximately 130 km northeast of the city of Antofagasta, and began operations in the early 1960s.
