In addition, the project contemplates the preparation of the yard of the existing Kimal substation (environmentally approved through RCA 440/2017) to allow the new line to connect in the projected yard. The new substation must be located within a 5km radius from the Lagunas substation, in the area located to the west of Route 5 North. The project is interregional in nature, covering the regions of Tarapacá and Antofagasta, the provinces of Iquique and Tocopilla and the communes of Pozo Almonte and María Elena. The construction, which will last 22 months, will require a maximum number of 730 workers per month for the construction of the Geoglyfos-Lagunas transmission line, sectioning and temporary auxiliary variant; 396 for the installation of the Nueva Lagunas Sectioning Substation; and 151 for the Kimal Substation work facility.
