Nuevo Casas Grandes - Bavispe Highway

Description: This highway is an interstate project that will directly connect Galeana, Nuevo Casas Grandes, Casas Grandes, the archaeological zone of Paquimé, the fields of El Cuervo, Buenos Aires, Las Virginias, and Pancho Villa, with Sonora with La Mora, San Miguelito, Bavispé, Baserac, Huachinera, Bacadéhuachi, Huasabas, Moctezuma, the El Novillo dam, Ures, Hermosillo, Bahía Kino, Guaymas and the agro-industrial corridor of Obregón and Navojoa. The construction of the highway would cover 115 km in Chihuahua and 10 km in Sonora, connecting the northern border with the states of New Mexico and Texas, mainly the area of Santa Teresa - El Paso - Cd. Juárez - Tornillo. The route is expected to link the largest industrial zone in northern Mexico and the southern United States with the closest cargo port on the Pacific, which is Guaymas, Sonora. It would also connect the border crossings of Puerto Palomas/Columbus and Berrendo/Antelope Wells to create the most important commercial corridor in the region, being the most viable alternative for the import and export of merchandise from the central and eastern United States. The highway would be a new alternative for the northern states of Mexico to trade with Asian countries.
