Modernization and Maintenance of the Bavispe - Nuevo Casas Grandes Highway

Description: The project includes construction and maintenance work on the Bavispe-Nuevo Casas Grandes highway. The road connects with trunk routes 1: Mexico City-Nogales (with a branch to Tijuana) and 3: Querétaro-Ciudad Juárez. This highway is an interstate project that will directly connect Galeana, Nuevo Casas Grandes, Casas Grandes, the Paquimé archaeological zone, the El Cuervo fields, Buenos Aires, Las Virginias, and Pancho Villa, with Sonora with La Mora, San Miguelito, Bavispé, Baserac, Huachinera, Bacadéhuachi, Huasabas, Moctezuma, the Novillo dam, Ures, Hermosillo, Bahía Kino, Guaymas and the agro-industrial corridor of Obregón and Navojoa. The route is expected to connect the largest industrial zone in northern Mexico and the southern United States with the nearest cargo port on the Pacific, Guaymas, Sonora. It would also connect the Puerto Palomas/Columbus and Berrendo/Antelope Wells border crossings, creating the most important commercial corridor in the region, providing the most viable alternative for importing and exporting goods from the central and eastern United States. The highway would be a new alternative for Mexico's northern states to trade with Asian countries. The initiative will generate 5,577 jobs.
