In addition, it is expected that the new dam will help reduce illegal extractions carried out in the area through wells. The dam will be located in the municipality of Casas Grandes and will seek to bring together the waters of the Palanganas River and the Piedras Verdes River that make up the Casas Grandes River. The dam is a flexible curtain type made of graded materials, and would provide timely attention to 15,000 hectares of the Casas Grandes, Juan Mata Ortiz, Guadalupe Victoria, Hidalgo, Mariano Sánchez, Francisco I. Madero ejidos, as well as to some owners of Nuevo Casas Grandes.
