The route would begin at the station located near the Gran Estación shopping center in the capital and would pass through the La Caro stop to continue towards the town of Zipaquirá, passing through the municipalities of Chía and Cajicá on its way. The objective of the train is local and inter-municipal integration, guaranteeing a comprehensive mobility service with feeders, local buses and inter-municipal buses. It will allow the decongestion of the northern highway, which is currently clogged during rush hours. The project contemplates integration with Regiotram de Occidente at the 68th Avenue station, with the TransMilenio system at 26th and NQS streets, and with the First Metro Line at 72nd Street. An estimated travel time is between 60 and 65 minutes. The light rail will be both underground and elevated, which will begin at Calle 25 and Carrera 17, near the Gran Estación shopping center – and will end in the municipality of Zipaquirá. The new train is expected to carry 250,000 passengers a day.
