Road Capacity Adaptation of Highway BR-423: Caetano-Lajedo section

Description: The project consists of the duplication, adaptation and restoration of the BR-423/PE highway, in the interior of Pernambuco, in the section located between the municipalities of São Caetano and Lajedo (km 18.2 to km 61.3). The section of the federal highway that will be duplicated is one of the main accesses to the southern countryside of the state of Pernambuco and a route for the production of the dairy basin of this region. The duplication aims to improve traffic conditions on BR-423/PE, making traffic more dynamic, fluid and safe. The Federal Government's expectation is that the improvement of the highway will also boost the growth of the services, tourism and commerce sectors. In addition, users living around BR-423/PE will benefit in terms of mobility, with reduced travel times and greater road safety. The special works of art planned in the project are the bridges over the Doce and Una rivers, including the structural reinforcement of the existing bridges, the double elevated bridges at the urban intersections of Cachoeirinha and Lajedo and the pedestrian promenade at Km 38.6, near the bridge over the Uno River. In the configuration of the urban intersections of Cachoeirinha and Lajedo, the pedestrian crossing from one marginal road to another will be carried out below the elevated roads that cover a good part of the urban perimeter. The project also includes paving for the duplicate runway, side roads and for the restoration of the existing runway, in addition to surface and deep drainage works.
