Description: The project aims for the need to satisfy Uruguay's growing electricity demand, using the wind potential an abundant source of energy in department of Colonia. The project is part of the government plan to diversify the country's energy matrix, so by the year 2015, 90% of the generation comes from renewables sources. This initiative involves the construction and operation of a 65 MW wind farm. The wind farm will be developed by Eletrobras and Uruguay's state-run utility UTE, as part of a series of strategic agreements signed by José Mujica and Dilma Rouseff.
