The dam formed by the dam involves the cantons of Tiwintza, Limón Indanza and Santiago de Méndez, all in the province of Morona Santiago. This project would cover a floodable area of approximately 3,000 ha and a volume of 1,649 million m³ at the NAME level (453.00 masl). The length of the reservoir is 24.00 km on the Zamora river arm and 45.00 km on the Namangoza river arm. The project is part of the Zamora - Santiago hydroelectric system and will be developed in two stages of 1,200MW each. Its construction will generate around 3,500 direct jobs and 10,000 indirect jobs, and will contribute an average energy output of 9,874 GWh/year.
