The new metro line will run from north to south along the axis of Avenida Santa Rosa, providing connectivity to eight communes: Recoleta, Santiago, San Miguel, San Joaquín, La Granja, San Ramón, La Pintana and Puente Alto. The line will have six connections to the Metro network: Puente Cal y Canto station with Lines 2, 3 and 7; Santa Lucía station with Line 1; Matta station with Line 3; Bío Bío station with Line 6; Santa Rosa Station with Line 4A and Plaza de Puente Alto Station with Line 4. The line will maintain the same standard as lines 3, 6 and 7 with trains with higher passenger capacity that include security cameras in each car, air conditioning and automatic driving. The stations will have large living spaces, bringing different services closer to the new residents, such as recharging machines, ATMs, commercial premises, among others, and with an accessibility design for people with reduced mobility at all levels. When the line is operational, the travel time between Bajos de Mena and Puente Cal y Canto will be 30 minutes, which represents a reduction of 55% compared to the current travel time (about 65 minutes). On the other hand, the travel time between both terminal stations will be only 35 minutes, which implies a reduction of 28% compared to the current travel time (about 48 minutes). The Project considers an average of 469 workers, with a maximum of 3,230 in the busiest months. In addition, it contemplates that it will benefit an estimated population to 2 million inhabitants.
