Second Concession Route 5 Santiago - Los Vilos

Description: The project consists of the re-tendering of the Route 5 Santiago - Los Vilos Section Concession, whose current concession contract expires in March 2023. Said concession contemplates the improvement, construction, conservation and exploitation of both pre-existing works and new works. The foregoing, in order to improve the technical standard and service levels of the route and, consequently, guarantee safety and comfort conditions for its users. The works include widening the road to fourth lanes between Buenaventura and Lampa and third lanes between Lampa and the Nogales Puchuncaví junction, with the exception of Cuesta Las Chilcas, which remains in its current profile. It also includes the El Melón Tunnel concession, 5.2 km long The Project is located in the Metropolitan Regions of Santiago, Valparaíso and Coquimbo, and crosses the communes of Quilicura, Colina, Lampa, Tiltil, Llaillay, Hijuelas, La Calera, Nogales, Zapallar, La Ligua, Papudo and Los Vilos. The initiative also includes the rehabilitation of the existing roads and the change of all the containment barriers, as well as the replacement of the current manual toll system with a Free Flow system through electronic toll gates. During the construction phase of the project, it will generate an average of 7,327 jobs per month. Likewise, it is estimated that the project will directly benefit a population of around 800,000 people and indirectly around 1,300,000 people.
