Most of the west sector does not have an adequate system for the conduction and treatment of wastewater, so wastewater from homes is collected in latrines or septic tanks without adequate maintenance or is discharged directly to ditches, streams and rivers; a small part of the sector has treatment plants that in some cases are collapsed with discharges without treatment to water bodies.
