Sewerage system and water treatment of the city of Puerto Maldonado (Puerto Maldonado WWTP)

Description: The project consists of the design, financing, construction, rehabilitation, expansion, operation and maintenance of the wastewater collection, treatment and final disposal systems in the municipalities of Tambopata and El Triunfo in the city of Puerto Maldonado. The objective of the initiative is to level the coverage of the sanitary sewer system with drinking water, provide a better service for the final disposal of wastewater, contribute to the decontamination of the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers and improve the health of the population. It includes the installation of household connections and secondary networks in areas of the city that do not have sanitary sewer service, benefiting more than 100,000 inhabitants of Puerto Maldonado (Madre de Dios). The project will be complemented by the other projects of the Ministry of Housing (Storm Drainage project and the Large Cities water and sanitation program) that will be executed through public works, thus covering 95% of the drinking water and sewerage services, 100% wastewater treatment and 100% storm drainage from the city of Puerto Maldonado.
