The project, known locally as the Metrobús, is aimed to speed up public passenger transport in the capital and surrounding areas. Metrobus is part of a massive integrated passenger transportation system, which considers further corridors to Asunción metropolitan cities Ñemby and Limpio and integration with a future interurban commuter rail. The project includes three terminals, 26 stations, and electric-powered busses with capacity forecasted at 300,000 passengers/d.
