Description: The Tasajero II project calls for the construction and operation of a second generation unit at the Termotasajero thermoelectric complex in San Cateyano, in Colombia's Norte de Santander department. Located on the Zulia river bank, Tasajero II will inject an extra 1,332GWh a year into Colombia's national transmission network (STN). To improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact, Tasajero II will have a closed-loop water cooling system that reuses the fresh water in a second cycle rather than immediately discharging it into the river. In addition, the coal-fueled plant will employ low NOx emitting burners and FGD filters (flue-gas desulfurization) to remove SOx particles. Termotasajero's second thermo plant will be built in the municipality of San Cayetano.
