The initiative will be carried out in two phases: the first corresponds to the acquisition, installation and commissioning of a gas turbine with an electric generator and the second considers the conversion of three gas turbines to operate in combined cycle mode, by incorporating a steam turbine. Termogas Machala is a 256MW plant in operation, using natural gas from the Amistad field. Production is currently limited by the low availability of local gas, which has been gradually declining in recent years. The plant is located in the Bajo Alto area in the province of El Oro, Ecuador.
