According to initial plans, the initiative will start in Teresina, capital of the state of Piauí, continue through the Parnaíba Delta in the states of Maranhão and Piauí, and continue along the northeastern coast until reaching Salvador de Bahia. The creation of the new passenger train will seek to strengthen tourism in the states that make up the northeastern region of Brazil and, consequently, boost local economic development.
