In addition, the possibility of generating electricity at the reservoir site will be assessed. This project will promote socioeconomic development in the region, increasing water availability on the right bank of the Tempisque River. This is done by building infrastructure works to improve the use of water from the Arenal-Dengo-Sandillal hydroelectric system. The project will take place in the mid-river basin of the Tempisque river and in the coastal communities in the Guanacaste state, Costa Rica.
