The cable car is part of the project "Improvement of the Public Tourist Services of the Choquequirao Archaeological Park". This project will generate the conditions for more than one million tourists to visit the Archaeological Park, which will mean a considerable increase compared to the 8,000 people that currently visit per year. There will be two access routes: the southern route, Apurímac region, and the northern route, Cusco region. The first will start in the central station Huanipanca to continue by road to the Kiuñalla boarding station and from there to Choquequirao, while the second will start in the town of Yanama by road to the San Juan boarding station, then to the intermediate station Maizal and then to the Choquequirao station.
